Merja is a mother, academic background in social work (Bachelor’s degree) & special education. She is interested in physical body experiences – embodiment from various perspectives, studying deep bodywork and two breathing modalities. Most recently, explored shibari and its embodied dimension. Her passion lies in liberating from the narrative of the past and shedding light on painful experiences.
NORTHERN SHAMANIC BREATHWORK (FIN/ENG) – Dance & Body
In this workshop, I use a trauma-sensitive approach to guide breath work. Active breathing takes place for approximately 45-50 minutes, preceded by ceremonial orientation to breath work. She utilizes strong diaphragmatic breathing, which falls under the category of “big breath” techniques.
Additionally, shamanic drums, my own voice, and other instruments are incorporated during the session. (STRONG, YOGA MAT)
BIODYNAMIC BREATHWORK (FIN) – Dance & Body
Biodynamic Breathwork is softer than deep breath. Breathing, movement and internal resources provide an opportunity to feel what’s alive. Workshop begins with somatic movement which calms the nervous system and releases fascia. Breath session lasts 60-75 min involving multiple rounds involving active breathing, strengthening felt sense through breath, connecting own power through breath and touch. (STRONG, YOGA MAT)
SOMATIC MOVEMENT & BREATHE FOR TEENAGERS
The workshop begins with an practise involving body movement and dynamic dance. The practise is done with eyes closed, so there’s no need to think about how to move. There’s no choreography involved in the movement. After the movement, a short breathing suitable in intensity for young.
